Even without any symptoms, do I still need a chlamydia screening?
Chlamydia is the most commonly reported sexually transmitted infection, and for women, the majority don't know that they have it.
Transcript
It's important to get tested for chlamydia because chlamydia is the most common reported sexually transmitted infection.
For women, about I would say 75% of us don't even know that we have it. If you don't have any symptoms, in other words,
no vaginal discharge or anything else, you should still be screened. So a woman's sample can be a culture,
which means a Q-tip in the vagina or you can pee in a cup. It's more accurate to do the culture in the vagina.
And for men, it is just peeing in the cup. If you do have chlamydia and it's undiagnosed,
the long-term effects is infertility. As a matter of fact, the second most common reason
for infertility in this country are the consequences of gonorrhea and chlamydia. Remember most girls get screened.
Most young men don't get screened, which is a shame. And if that is the case, unfortunately the burden
is always on us. However, if you ever are positive for chlamydia, I always tell you guys to always tell your partners.
Let them be screened. And remember your partners are not always guilty. He could have had that for a while. You might not want to talk about chlamydia,
but I talk about chlamydia and everything else all the time. And I think that as long as you understand it is through sex.
So no glove no love, always get tested, always get screened even though it sounds very remote to you,
