Everyone is getting old. When did you start getting old? When you were born. So we're all getting old, but the key idea here
is growing old. We grow up, but do we stop growing? Hopefully never.
Purpose is central to human existence, and work is only one of the areas that we play it out. But I have to say that there's lots of ways into it.
There's lots of tools out there to figure things out. [WHOOSH] Periodically, we're on plateaus.
Plateaus in life can be positive where things are going along great, or a plateau can be a period where we're actually bored.
We're suffering from what I call inner kill, the art of dying without knowing it. We're kind of dying from the inside for a lack of purpose
or meaningful work or relationships. But then along either a positive or negative plateau will come a trigger.
Triggers are those things that grab us and pull us off our plateau into what we call limbo. Limbo is a period of uncertainty that's a natural period.
It should be that way. We can't-- we're not that rational. We're also emotional. Living in limbo drains us of our energy,
and I call it the drain of indecision. I'm not ready to make a decision on a new life, a new career, a new relationship yet.
I'm trying to figure out this whole thing and how to let go, but the starting point is to push the pause button.
To unpack your bags and go inside and look at what really matters to you at this stage in your life,
really look at this what's-next moment. So much of it is coming unpredictably and uncertainly
at one time, and it's hard to deal with that without some sort of practices and some sort of support.
And so that's what this is all about. What we're doing here is to help people to reframe, to reimagine
what's next and to put some new practices into place. [WHOOSH]

In order to have it all, you must love it all.
I love to be still working, but you see, there is a very special reason. I love what I do.
I'm an actress. After tonight, things will be settled. First settle your stomach. Never mind my stomach.
Well, I mind your nose and your head broken. I love what I do.
Acting is-- is my other life, but it is a life. It's a whole other life.
The biggest highlight of my career, obviously, was the Oscars, and it set some kind of record. And it is the first Hispanic actress to win an Oscar.
I'm just thrilled. I'm thrilled that I'm still wanted and needed by my industry.
There's a lot to be said for that. My purpose in life is not show business. My purpose in life is to live a life well lived.
So much that needs to be changed with respect to aging-- it makes me sad to think that people might be anxious about--
I mean, I have seen people turning 30 and 40 who are, you know, going through the trials of hell.
And I can understand in this kind of society why also people would be very anxious about getting older,
but I can only tell you that you have choices. And the choice is to live your life to the fullest.
Every one of us is special. Every one of us has something wonderful, many wonderful
things to give to this life. That means facing the fear head on and finding a way
to enjoy all the good stuff because there's a lot of good stuff. [WHOOSH] These chapters of our lives, this final third, you know,
there are lots of ways that it can look. I graduated from Harvard Business School.
I've worked at the World Bank. I had my own business, so it's been quite a journey.
Last year, a friend of mine told me you should apply to be in a startup incubator
to start a new business. I know I've had a business. I know it's a straight vertical lift. She said, no, no, no, they'll help you.
So I thought, OK, I'll apply. I have lots of ideas. In January, I found out that I was accepted.
I'm one of five. I am now building a business. We'll be in something to do with the longevity space,
and I am excited about it. It is pushing me and challenging me,
and I'm with people many years younger than I am. I feel like this is absolutely my purpose,
so even though I would not have-- this is not-- was not the plan. This was not where I thought I would be.
I love it. [WHOOSH] [UPBEAT MUSIC] What's your name? Jackson.
And how old are you? Four.
Three. No, I'm not three. I wish. You're 64. No, I'm 62. I'm not 64.
No. 63. 60 what? 63? OK, I came down one age.
I love basketball. You're going to be a basketball player? Yeah. You're going to be good? Yeah. You're going to be good as your papa?
Yeah. Tips for aging.
My tips for aging? Drink a lot of water and keep moving all the time. That's how you stay healthy--
movement, movement, and more movement. Yeah. Right? Yes. That's why I can't catch you. You're always running around my house.
Yeah. You do a lot of moving, right?
I think the biggest misconception when, say, for example, when you retire, a lot of people,
you know, just sit down and do nothing. They slow down. I don't think I've slowed down since I retired.
And so I think once you stop moving, that's when you age quickly, and I think you age gracefully
when you stay active. What's old? Am I old?
Basketball. Basketball is old. It is very old. Papa is old enough to hang out with you and play, right?
Right. Right. [WHOOSH] [HEARTBEAT] [DIGITAL CHIMES]
