Labyrinthitis generally affects everyone symptomatically in the same way. Labyrinthitis is one of a cluster of disorders known as vestibular disorders, and vestibular disorders in general are more common in older adults than in younger adults or children. One study found that about 35 percent of Americans over the age of 40 suffered from some kind of vestibular disorder. The prevalence among the general population is not so high.
