Gluten-free products have become popular in recent years, but they can be expensive. In this video, Dr. Oz talks with his guest, physician-researcher Dr. Neal Barnard, about whether packaged gluten-free foods are worth the money.
This is a great question! The answer is -- it depends. There are plenty of foods that are naturally gluten-free, so of course, those are worth it (vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, chicken, eggs, nuts, seeds, beans, etc.). There are many gluten-free foods that are just as processed as their gluten-containing counterparts, so it's important to read the list of ingredients to know what you're getting. Just because it's labeled "gluten-free" doesn't mean it's healthy.
