How do medications treat flat warts?

Various chemicals may be used to treat flat warts. The most common treatment, over-the-counter salicylic acid, causes the wart to slowly peel away. These treatments must be applied regularly, often for several weeks. Doctors may use stronger chemicals during procedures in their office.
