What are the symptoms of peritoneal diseases?

Because there are some many different peritoneal diseases, they can have a variety of different symptoms. Many diseases in the peritoneal cavity create a build up of fluid in this area. As the fluid builds, a person may notice abdominal discomfort, bloating, and a loss of appetite. Sometimes symptoms of peritoneal diseases include fever, shortness of breath, diarrhea, or severe constipation and the inability to pass gas. People with severe ascites, a peritoneal disease, may even have swollen ankles due to excessive fluid.
