What are the muscles of the lower body?

The muscles in the lower extremities are the following:
 
  • Buttocks.
  • Hip flexors. The muscles that flex your hip up.
  • Quadriceps. Four large muscles in the front of the thighs that are the key to healthy knees.
  • Hamstrings. Muscles in the back of the thighs that flex your knees back.
  • Anterior tibialis. A muscle in the front of the shin.
  • Gastrocnemius. A muscle in the calves.
