Since magnesium oxide may interact with other medications, you should make a list of all of the medications you currently take and give it to your doctor before taking magnesium oxide. Be sure to include any vitamins or nutritional or herbal supplements. Include any over-the-counter medications. If you take an anticoagulant such as warfarin, let your doctor know; this drug may have increased side effects when taken with magnesium oxide. Also, tell your doctor if you are taking penicillamine; magnesium oxide may make this drug less effective. Magnesium oxide can prevent absorption of several drugs like ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, tetracycline, etidronate, levothyroxine and others.
