When can I have ParaGard removed?

You can have ParaGard (T 380A Intrauterine Copper Contraceptive) removed from your uterus whenever you want to switch to a different form of birth control or wish to get pregnant. In most cases, your doctor can remove the IUD (intrauterine device) during an office visit. ParaGard stops protecting against pregnancy as soon as it's out, so if you aren't planning to have a baby, immediately start using another contraceptive method whenever you have sex.
