Who is at risk for a hernia?

Smokers, overweight people, those who have had previous surgeries and do heavy lifting are all at risk for a hernia.

Anyone can get a hernia, but people most at risk are those who are overweight, smokers, have diabetes or take medications that suppress the body’s immune system (such as prednisone).
