Are there different types of trusses?

There are different styles of hernia trusses - also called hernia belts or binders. Trusses used to treat inguinal hernias, hernias that are located in the groin area often resemble a support brief. Some trusses are used in a wrap-around style to provide support for hernias located above the groin. A hernia that is located near the naval (umbilical hernia) needs a truss designed to apply pressure against that area of the abdomen. Any truss may use removable pads and buckles or elastic to secure the fit. It's vital that the correct truss is used and worn properly to prevent the hernia from becoming incarcerated or strangulated, complications that can be life-threatening if left untreated.
