What are treatment options for cardiomyopathy?

Often, a combination of medications are the first line of treatment for cardiomyopathy. In some cases you may need a pacemaker, which is implanted into your heart and controls its beats with electrical pulses. ICDs, or implantable cardioverter-difibrillators, are another internal device used to control cardiomyopathy. Some people with extreme complications from cardiomyopathy may be eligible for a heart transplant.
