What are the different types of midfacial augmentation?

Midfacial augmentation may be performed from both non-invasive and invasive techniques. The non-invasive techniques include dermal filler including hyaluronic acid such as Juvaderm, Perlane, Restylane or autologous fat grafting techniques. These procedures will need to be repeated in several months. A permanent silicone implant referred to as either a malar or submalar implant may be used to enhance the midfacial projection and width. Finally, a facelift procedure referred to as a midface lift may be performed by a plastic surgeon to elevate and tighten the submalar or midfacial region.
