Is fructose intolerance serious?

Fructose intolerance is manageable with a fructose-free diet. If left untreated, however, it can be a very serious disease. Fructose intolerance can cause low blood sugar (resulting in coma and death), liver damage, kidney damage, and gout. Undiagnosed fructose intolerance can be fatal to infants.
