Do bezoars occur more often in children than adults?

Bezoars are more likely to develop in children than in adults. Children who are developmentally delayed or who have emotional problems may chew on their hair or other objects. Hair or fibers accumulate in their stomachs and result in bezoars. Bezoars are most often seen in girls ages 10 to 19.
