How is vestibular neuronitis diagnosed?

Because there are many kinds of balance disorders, a person suffering from vestibular neuronitis will undergo a variety of tests to rule out other conditions. Your doctor might recommend that you see an otolaryngologist, or an ear, nose, and throat doctor. This specialist may perform hearing tests, blood work, and tests to monitor your muscle movements. In addition, you may be required to undergo an MRI so that doctors can examine the vestibular nerve for inflammation.
