Why do I have a yellow tongue?

You may have a yellow tongue as a result of enlarged papillae, little projections on the tongue caused by naturally occurring bacteria in your mouth. Yellow tongue is usually harmless, but in rare cases may be an early sign of liver or gallbladder problems.
