You can reduce the pain of a burn by keeping the burned area elevated to reduce swelling. Also, covering it with dressings and taking an over-the-counter pain medicine can help. Your doctor may prescribe a strong pain medicine. Some types of biologic dressings, such as pig skin or cadaver skin, will also reduce pain.
