Does hydroxyzine interact with other medications?

Hydroxyzine can interact with other medications, especially medications that already cause drowsiness, such as some over-the-counter cold and allergy medications. Taking hydroxyzine in addition to these drugs can increase hydroxyzine side effects. Drowsiness can become a problem, especially if you need to remain alert during the day. Hydroxyzine can also react with narcotic pain medications, sleeping pills, seizure medications, muscle relaxers and drugs used to treat depression and anxiety. It's important to tell your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking, before using hydroxyzine.
