How soon after using heparin will my symptoms improve?

Heparin is used as a preventative treatment rather than as a treatment for symptoms. If you have existing blood clots, heparin will keep your clots from getting worse, but it cannot shrink the clots. With other uses, heparin is used to prevent the formation of dangerous clots, thereby preventing potentially life-threatening symptoms.
