What should I know before using Heparin Lock Flush Solution?

You should know that Heparin Lock Flush Solution is an anticoagulant or "blood thinner," and it helps prevent blood clots from forming. However, unlike other anticoagulants, Heparin Lock Flush Solution should not be used for regular anticoagulant therapy, or normal prevention of blood clots. The only time it may be used is to prevent blood clots from forming when other medications or substances are being supplied through an IV or catheter.
