Is it safe for my sister to go on a weight-loss diet while taking warfarin?

While she is taking warfarin, your sister should not make any changes in her diet, such as going on a weight-loss diet, without first talking with her doctor. She should eat a normal, well-balanced diet, but should avoid eating unusually large amounts of leafy green vegetables (such as spinach, kale or collard greens) because they contain large amounts of vitamin K, which can affect how well warfarin works, and may require changes in her dose.
