What should I know about fluocinolone before using it?

Before using fluocinolone, talk to your doctor about any medical conditions you may be have. If you have a skin infection, you may want to first discuss with your doctor about using this medication at this time. There have been some cases reported of developing HPA axis suppression, manifestations of Cushing syndrome, hyperglycemia or glycosuria while using fluocinolone. This medication qualifies under pregnancy Category C. Talk to your doctor before using this medication while pregnant, as the drug could cause harm to a developing fetus. Because it is unknown if fluocinolone is secreted into breast milk, you should talk to your doctor about the safety of using this medication while breastfeeding. Tell your doctor about all of the medications you are currently taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and supplements to ensure that you do not have a serious drug interaction.
