We've had some real hard times with it. We've had some scary times as parents.
You've had scary times. And I wasn't disappointed in you, I was disappointed for you. I know that.
Well, I want you to know that because it is sometimes inevitable. There is that genetic component that has Type 2.
Sometimes you can be doing things as right as possible, and it's still going to catch up to you. And you're still going to have to fight that fight. And with our family history.
So one thing I don't know if you realize, but sometimes like, it's sort of the child becomes the parent in this.
Because I know that for years like, I've had to listen to you tell me like,
oh, this was my favorite line growing up. Are you just grouchy, or do you need to check your blood sugar?
So I never really understood that perspective on it because I was so in the moment of being frustrated,
either because I was grouchy or because it was my blood sugar. But it really annoyed me that you had such a dial
in on my emotions and how that correlated with my health, because I felt like it was almost an unfair advantage.
But now like, I'll notice you getting flushed or you start to sweat or you're maybe
a little grouchier than normal. And I'm like, what'd you have for lunch, Mom? So do you think that it's helped our relationship,
or at least helped our understanding of one another like, as both-- Oh, most definitely. --being able to kind of have that thing
that we come together on? And I think with my diagnosis and knowing that I'm diabetic now--
Oh, I think I'm excited to hear you say what you're about to say. You might not be. Uh-oh. I think from watching you, there's
times I'll look at your daddy, and I'll just say, just stop. I'm going to go check my blood sugar. I'm getting a headache.
Let's put a pin in this because I'm not equipped to deal. I think I might be getting a little bit low. Let me just go check this out.
