Hi. I'm Dr. Vonda Wright, with relief for your aching back. With adequate rest and care, back pain
usually fades on its own. But sometimes, the pain is so chronic and severe that basic home remedies won't do the trick.
Here are a few options you can consider. Medication-- if over-the-counter drugs aren't enough,
see your doctor about a prescription. Some prescription-strength pain relievers or muscle relaxers
might work better for you. Spinal manipulation-- chiropractors, physical therapists, or osteopathic doctors
can offer short-term relief for mild-to-moderate back pain by physically manipulating the joints in your spine.
It isn't recommended for people with certain health conditions, so be sure to check with your doctor first.
Physical therapy-- sometimes weak back muscles just need to be coached back into shape.
A physical therapist can guide you toward safe exercises for building strong core muscles.
Surgery is typically the last resort when other treatments don't relieve the pain. Most doctors recommend waiting at least six months
to see if pain and symptoms improve before considering surgery. Work with your doctor to find the right pain relief
plan for you. [AUDIO LOGO]
