Sharing care: Leslie's story
Leslie is a breast cancer survivor who got strong and stayed positive after her diagnosis. In this video, Leslie shares how she handled telling her friends and family about her diagnosis and the treatment she chose.
I went through radiation treatments. I had to think about how I was going to tell everybody in the family and my friends.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer. So I did some research and decided on a surgeon
and he decided that a lumpectomy was appropriate.
And after that, I went through radiation treatments. I had to think about how I was going to tell everybody
in the family and my friends, because when you get a diagnosis of cancer, your world kind of stops and you
have to pull yourself together, get strong, and stay positive. Life is fragile at times, but you will get through it.
I'm absolutely comfortable with the word survivor. I am a survivor and I feel like I worked hard at it
