How can I prepare myself for breast augmentation surgery?
Michael Howard, MD, offers tips like preparing for the surgery by talking with patients who have had the same surgery and speaking to your physician about the risks involved in surgery.

Consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is very important, to be able to discuss the risks,
the benefits, and the alternatives to the procedure and know what to expect both in the short, medium, and long term to perform the procedure.

Breast augmentation surgery is a surgical procedure which does require a good preparation.
I think it begins with patients learning what to expect through surgery. Speaking to friends or peers or other patients who
have undergone the procedure is a good place to start. Secondly, I think a consultation with a board-certified plastic
surgeon is very important to be able to discuss the risks and the benefits and the alternatives to the procedure and know what to expect,
both in the short, medium, and long term to perform the procedure.
Speak to the nurses and the physician about what to expect with the day of surgery and how to prepare oneself. I think, in general, avoiding smoking and keeping
one's self in good health is very important from a baseline for all surgeries, not just
breast augmentation alone. [MUSIC PLAYING]
