    An important component of the mind-body-spirit connection is realizing that your body can remember things without your mind being conscious of them. This is called body memory. Every musician knows about body memory. It is what allows you to play a piece of music without having to think about every note and rhythmic change. After sufficient practice, your fingers seem to play the piece of music on their own. Do you remember learning how to drive a stick shift? Do you remember how much conscious effort it initially required to shift smoothly? Now your body does it unconsciously, at the level of body memory. These are forms of body memory.
