Can I buy Viagra without a prescription?

It is illegal to sell Viagra (sildenafil) without a prescription. Online pharmacies that advertise Viagra without a doctor’s prescription are often selling phony pills that may not be effective or may be harmful to your health.

While most men can safely take Viagra, your doctor will recommend another ED treatment if you have certain health conditions or are taking certain medications. For instance, men who have low blood pressure or use nitroglycerin and other nitrate-based drugs like Nitrostat for chest pain, should not take Viagra to avoid a sudden, unsafe drop in blood pressure.

If you have pulmonary hypertension -- abnormally high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs – and are on a blood thinner like warfarin (Coumadin) and enoxaparin (Lovenox), you are at increased risk of bleeding if you also take Viagra. Your doctor takes all these factors into consideration when recommending an ED treatment that’s right for you.
