According to the National Cancer Institute's (NCI's) Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Cancer Statistics Review, the five-year survival following a diagnosis of liver cancer or bile duct cancer for all stages combined is 14%. If the disease is localized, then the five-year survival is 26%. Patients with regional spread to lymph nodes or distant, metastatic liver cancer have five-year survival rates of 9% and 3%, respectively.
