Intermountain Registered Dietitians, Nutrition & Dietetics, answered on behalf of Intermountain HealthcareReturn to work when your doctor advises. When you can return to work from anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery depends on how physically strenuous your work is. If you work at a desk, you may be able to return to work within a week. If your work is physically strenuous and you do not have the option of a light-duty assignment, you may need to be off work until the bone has healed completely. In some cases this may take up to six months, although most patients have a solid fusion much sooner. Your doctor will advise you when it is safe to return to work.
