Why Do Some Fibroids Cause Constipation?
Constipation is not uncommon with uterine fibroids. In this video, Kevin Windom, MD, Sharecare Advisory Board member explains how a fibroid may compress the colon or rectum, making bowel movements more difficult.
Transcript
It's not uncommon for fibroids to be in different places on the uterus. If the fibroids happen to be on the posterior wall the uterus
they can then compress towards the sacrum, or towards the colon, or towards the rectum, and sometimes can cause problems with constipation.
