those may need to be adjusted as your pregnancy goes on. It will be important for you to continue checking your blood sugar multiple times a day, eating a balanced diet,

gaining a healthy amount of weight to support your baby, and staying active. Does my treatment change at all now that I'm pregnant?

Your self care routine will be a bit different when you're pregnant. But many of the basics will be the same. For example, while you already check your blood sugar,

you might need to check it at different times of the day or more often. And if you already take diabetes medications or insulin,

you might need to take a different type or a different dose. How do I take care of myself and baby while I'm pregnant?

You take care of yourself and your baby by eating a balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein, staying active, taking

medications if prescribed, and by continuing regular visits with your health care provider.

What can I expect when I deliver my baby? No matter how you deliver your baby, your doctors will be working during labor and delivery

to keep your blood glucose level under control. At the start of active labor, your insulin needs will drop.

You will most likely not need any insulin during labor and for 24 to 72 hours after delivery.
