The normal vaginal pH is due to a healthy lifestyle and most people who have a healthy lifestyle have a normal body chemistry and usually a normal vaginal pH.
But at all times there's bacteria and yeast in the vagina at all times. And they're kind of at a stalemate. And the bacteria and yeast make a pH of about 4.2.
If the pH of the vagina rises, then bacteria overgrows. If the pH of the vagina decreases, yeast overgrows.
And so that's why if you take an antibiotic, it kills off the bacteria, yeast can overgrow. If you have diabetes, it increases blood sugar,
yeast can overgrow. If you're on a low carbs diet, bacteria can overgrow. In my opinion there's numerous things that can change the vaginal pH, but the best way
