Read Transcript

Liver transplantation is a very effective way to treat liver cancer. The liver cancer most commonly develop in a condition called liver cirrhosis, that is a very much advanced stage of damaged liver. So, taking the tumour out from the cirrhotic liver. First of all, it's a very difficult and endangered surgery, but also it doesn't really treat the entire liver of cirrhosis because liver cancer develop in a cirrhosis background, if you don't change that, liver into a no cirrhotic liver, there's still a very high chance, likelihood of tumour to come back and recur.

So to do liver transplant is treat two conditions at the same time which is one is a cancer and then the other is the background liver disease of cirrhosis.
