The rule is if you have an injury, you sprained your ankle, you sprained in your back sprained your neck, ice within the set first 72 hours and heat there after. If you talk to acupuncturist, they never recommend ice but chiropractors, medical doctors, physical therapists recommend ice within the first 72 hours of an injury and heat thereafter.
