You should avoid eating refined carbohydrates because they tend to change the body's hormone levels, manipulate blood sugar, and cause unpleasant symptoms. Watch nutrition specialist Peter Attia, MD, explain why complex carbs are a healthier option.
You know for most people highly refined and processed carbohydrates, including simple ones like sugars, tend to cause a change in our body's hormones. They tend to raise the level of the hormone called insulin in response to our blood sugar getting higher, and when insulin levels get really high, it tends to cause your blood sugar to crash.
And so anybody who's sort of been through this roller coaster knows you go through these energy swings, mood swings, they tend to govern your appetite, you get into sort of into binge eating that follows and I certainly ate like that one day so I can speak that from first hand experience.
When you eat more complex carbohydrates instead and food that has protein and fat in it, it tend get more even distribution and delivery of energy in your body so you are not sought of a slave to this cycles of hunger.
