What Is the Vata Skin Type in Ayurveda?

There's three different skin types, Vata, Pitta and Kapha and these are linked to the three types of bodies that we see in Ayurvedic medicine. Vata skin type is typically pale and dry. The main issue with Vata skin is that it that needs more nourishment and hydration and so it gets predisposed to pre-mature aging.

And often times we have to look at what an Vata individual is eating in particular, that is blocking the absorption of nutrients. So for Vata individuals, we'll recommend whole grains, foods like milk and cooked vegetables, these are foods that are very, very easy to digest and very nourishing to the system.

And cooking with spices like ginger helps improve the digestive fire. Vata individuals tend to be a little on the cold side when it comes to their digestion, so the ginger helps to increase that heat improve absorption of nutrients and that shows up on the skin.
