How Can I Boost My Melatonin Levels Naturally?

Read Transcript

There are several things you can do to boost your melatonin levels naturally. First you have to understand that melatonin is produced in the pineal glands, and therefore the light that comes through your eyes affects the pineal gland, so light tends to inhibit the production of melatonin.

So common sense will dictate you have to ward off that light, you have to have a darker environment in order to produce more of that melatonin. That means in the evening when you're about to go to bed draw your shade or blind so you can get a good amount of darkness in the room to allow that melatonin to begin producing itself so you can get those feelings of sleepiness and eventually get the sleep that you need and you might look at a night mask which again will keep the darkness in front of your eyes and perhaps one of the most important things throw that TV out of your bedroom.

Again the light from your television, sometimes from your computer or if it's too bright on your ipad or tablet, all of those things will inhibit the melotonin so turn them off. And let the melotonin begin.
