Are You a Candidate for Daily Low-Dose Baby Aspirin?

Read Transcript

Hi, Dr. Kevin Soden here. Wondering if a daily low-dose baby aspirin is right for you? There're some good reason to consider it. Daily baby aspirin reduces your risk for heart attacks, strokes, and deep vein thrombosis. That's why aspirin's strongly recommended for men over 45 and women over 55, may also help prevent cancer.

Two massive studies found that plain Low-Dose aspirin slashes your risk of dying from nine scary cancers including colon, prostrate, brain, lungs, and pancreas, by an average of 30% but while daily baby aspirin is great for a lot of people, it's not right for everyone. Regular use can trigger major stomach and brain bleeding in a small percent of people.

So before starting aspirin therapy, talk to your doctor about risks and benefits for you. If your doctor gives you the green light, take your aspirin daily and wash them down with warm water. That dissolves the tablets faster and makes aspirin less likely to trigger serious bleeding.
