I always say that the doctor-patient relationship is just that, it's a relationship, and that really has to be teamwork here. When coming up with a treatment plan for your high cholesterol, this is really where you and your doctor want to strategize and work together. There's a lot of things to take into consideration when you're coming up with what treatment options might be best for you.

Things such as, what 's your family history, how high risk are you in terms of cardiac risk, or risk for high cholesterol getting worse, what are some other risk factors that you might have, do you have diabetes, do you have blood pressure? These are all things that go into play when we as the doctors work with the patient to come up with a treatment plan.

So one of the best things that you can do when you try to figure out what that treatment plan should for you, is to really talk with your doctor openly and honestly about your medical history, about who you are, and that will definitely help you.
