Lona Sandon

Bio

Lona Sandon, MEd, RD, LD

Sandon is an assistant professor of clinical nutrition at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Her responsibilities include author and editor of the Center for Human Nutrition Wellness web site, public relations for recruitment and admission of clinical nutrition students, implementation of Web 2.0 communication and collaboration technology in education, and supervision of students in clinical practice. She provides lecture topics for both university and community programs in a variety of settings. Sandon is the  2011–14 House of Delegates representative of ADA’s Nutrition Educators of Health Professions dietetics practice group and is an American Council on Exercise-certified group fitness instructor and yoga instructor. Sandon was recognized as the top Innovator in Practice and Edcuation at the 2010 Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo. Sandon received the 2007 Media Award and the 2005 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award from the Texas Dietetic Association. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Sandon earned a master’s degree from the University of Texas – Brownsville.
