Sharecare's Advisory Board members provide guidance and input on matters of content, scope, and evolving issues of health education for Sharecare's consumer and professional audiences. Their contributions are not limited to the area of content and editorial; they also represent Sharecare in an official capacity, as media representatives, advisors, and moderators in each member's clinical specialty, or representatives for public events.

Our valuable Advisory Board members additionally make recommendations for enhanced services on the site, and provide an important health professional perspective during key milestones and company-wide initiatives.

  • Dr. Tanya Altmann

    Pediatrics

    A working mother and UCLA-trained pediatrician who practices in Southern California, Dr. Tanya Altmann is a best-selling author, network television parenting expert, and entertainment industry consultant. Dr. Tanya is an American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) spokesperson, communicating complicated medical issues into easily understood concepts.   • Dr. Arthur Crowley

    Urology

    Dr. Arthur Crowley is a board-certified urologist. He earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He completed his urology residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (North Shore – LIJ Health System). As an F.C. Valentine Fellow, Dr. Crowley pursued clinical research in kidney stone disease at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He later earned his Master’s in Public Health degree at Columbia University with an emphasis on healthcare finance, policies and politics.

    In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Crowley has 10 years industry experience as a Medical Director in noteworthy companies; Pfizer, Sanofi, American Medical Systems (Endo). While in industry, he was the medical lead for reviewing promotional and educational materials (e.g., websites, publications). Dr. Crowley launched many grant and fellowship programs to inspire the development of new key opinion leaders. He prepared safety and expert medical reports to meet the FDA and other regulatory requirements.

    Dr. Crowley has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstracts. He is a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) Inc, New York Section AUA and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Crowley holds an active license to practice medicine in many states.

  • Dr. Vincent DeVita

    Oncology

    Dr. Vincent T. DeVita, Jr., Sharecare Editorial Advisory Board Member, is the Amy and Joseph Perella Professor of Medicine at the Yale Cancer Center, and Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University School of Medicine. He served as Director of the Yale Cancer Center from 1993 to July 2003. Dr. DeVita was President of the American Cancer Society for the 2012-2013 term and a member of the ACS National Board of Directors. Dr. DeVita served as Physician-in-Chief and Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1988 to 1993. In 1980, Dr. DeVita was appointed Director of the National Cancer Institute and the National Cancer Program, NIH, by the President of the United States where he served until 1988. Dr. DeVita is the editor of the popular text, Cancer: Principles & Practice of Oncology now in its 10th edition and author of the lay book The Death of Cancer written with his daughter Elizabeth DeVita Raeburn, a science writer, published in 2015.

    Patricia Geraghty RN, FNP, MSN is a Nurse Practitioner in women’s health. She did her graduate work at the University of California, San Francisco. She has authored a manual for pregnancy, and was the lead faculty and coordinator of a Nurse Practitioner program in Oakland, California. She now practices near San Francisco and teaches in local Nurse Practitioner programs.     Dr. Gonzales, a board certified orthodontist, has been providing orthodontic treatment to patients in the San Francisco east bay since 1997. He grew up in southern California and received his bachelor's degree from U.C.L.A. After college, he attended Tufts University School of Dentistry. His postgraduate residency and masters degree was completed at the orthodontics program at the University of the Pacific, in San Francisco.     Women’s Health

    Dr. John Lipman is a board-certified Interventional Radiologist and renowned authority in the non-surgical treatment of uterine fibroids. He received his Masters and Medical degrees from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1985. He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and was selected Chief Resident in his final year.     Cardiology

    Dr. Martin attended Emory University School of Medicine, graduating summa cum laude. He then trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Stanford University Medical Center, where he became one of the pioneers in the field of Noninvasive Cardiology. Dr. Martin then went on to hold faculty positions and clinical staff positions at Stanford University, the University of Virginia, and the Mayo Medical School and Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1989, Dr. Martin returned to Atlanta and to Emory University School of Medicine and The Emory Clinic to become Professor of Medicine and Director of Noninvasive Cardiology, as well as Associate Dean for Clinical Development at Emory University School of Medicine. In September of 2009, he received the academic appointment of Professor Emeritus of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine, after he joined Piedmont Heart Institute as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Imaging and Chief of Structural & Valvular Heart Disease. In September 2012, in addition to his continuing leadership role as Chief of the Structural and Valvular Center of Excellence at the Piedmont Heart Institute, he was appointed Physician Principal Advisor, Educational Programs, Marcus Heart Valve Center. Dr. Martin has won numerous awards, both from his U.S. and international medical colleagues and his journalism peers, including Fellowship in the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the European Society of Cardiology, as well as being the only Physician recipient of the Howard L. Lewis Award for Lifetime Achievement in Medical Journalism. He serves the Atlanta Community on the boards of the Atlanta Humane Society and Healing Community Center, Inc.

    Dr. Douglas Severance, M.D. serves as Chief of Family Practice at San Ramon Regional Medical Center in Northern California. He graduated from Loma Linda University Medical School in 1976, having been admitted into the medical school’s two-year pre-medical program. He completed his internship in 1977 and family practice residency in 1979 at Glendale Adventist Medical Center in Southern California. In 1979 he became board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and has remained board certified through recertification examinations. He entered private medical practice in Los Angeles in 1979 and continued to practice there until 1991. He was co-medical director of the Care Unit, a drug and alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation inpatient program, from 1982 to 1991. Dr. Severance was certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 1986. He joined a family practice group in Northern California in 1991, and currently has a thriving practice in San Ramon. Previously, Dr. Severance has served as Medical Director of the inpatient drug and alcohol program at San Ramon from 1991 to 1998. Dr. Severance became board certified in addiction medicine in 2009, and was certified as a medical review officer by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council in 1997. He received Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine in 1994 by the American Board of Family Medicine.

    Dr. Kevin Soden is an Emmy award winning medical journalist for over 20 years appearing on CBS, NBC and most recently on NBC's Today Show. He now serves as the TV host for Healthline and Whole Body Health. He also serves as the worldwide Medical Director for Texas Instruments and the Celanese Corporation and teaches as a courtesy Professor at the Univ. of Florida College of Medicine. His awards include Emmys, Telly’s, the 2008 CableFax award for best cable health show, the 2008 and 2001 National Award for Excellence in Medical Reporting from the National Association of Medical Communicators. Kevin published The Art of Medicine: What Every Doctor and Patient Should Know...a critically acclaimed book focusing on improving doctor-patient communications. He is also the primary author of a consumer medical book Special Treatment: How to Get the High-Quality Care Your Doctor Gets and a contributing author to the recently published A Practical Approach to Occupational and Environmental Medicine.   • Dr. Daniel Spogen

    Past President of the Nevada Association of Family Physicians, Daniel Spogen received his medical degree at the University of Southern California and completed his residency at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. After graduation, he established a solo practice in Reno, Nevada and began teaching at the Family Medicine Residency program. During his 21 years in practice, Dan worked the full scope of family medicine, including obstetrics, while he continued mentoring students in the office and volunteering with the Student Outreach Clinic. His countless hours working with the Family Medicine Interest Group, the Outreach Clinic, and students earned him recognition as the Nevada Family Physician of the Year in 1996 and 2010. He closed his practice in 2005 and joined the medical school full time, first as Director of Medical Education, then as Chair of the Department. In addition, he is Course Coordinator of a 2nd year course in Community Medicine, Faculty Advisor for FMIG, Medical Director of the Student Outreach Clinic, Co-Director of 3rd year clerkships, and instructor of two fourth year electives, all while providing care to patients at the clinic and in the hospital. Dan has been active in the AAFP both at the local and national levels, serving in various board positions in addition to his tenure as President of the NAFP. He has been in the Congress as an alternate and a delegate since 1989. In 2004 he received the AAFP Exemplary Teaching Award for Voluntary Faculty. In 2013, he was awarded the Truckee Meadows Award for Excellence in Teaching Healthcare Delivery.

  • Dr. Stacy Wiegman

    Stacy Wiegman, MS, PharmD, CGP, is a registered pharmacist in North Carolina, Kansas, Texas and Wisconsin. She has degrees from the University of Kansas in Communication Studies and Pharmacy, and the University of Wisconsin, where she completed a two-year residency in hospital pharmacy administration. She also completed a fellowship in medication safety at The Institute for Safe Medication Practices, writing and lecturing nationally on medication error prevention. While at ISMP, she wrote a book chapter on the patient’s role in preventing medication errors. Her career has covered a full spectrum of clinical practice, having worked in hospital and community pharmacy, poison control, nursing home consulting, and managed care. In addition, she spent over ten years in the pharmaceutical industry in clinical development and marketing. She created two websites: www.having-babies-after-cervical-cancer.com and www.i-have-rosacea.com based on personal experience. Her greatest interest is in patient education. She is currently a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and she holds the credential of Certified Geriatrics Pharmacist.

    Dr. Kevin Windom is a board certified OB/GYN with a subspecialty in urogynecology. He is widely recognized as a leading gynecologic surgeon in the U.S. and is active in the medical community as a national public speaker, published author, local and national surgical preceptor, and a contributor for the Ask Dr OZ website.
