Binge eating disorder is actually the most common eating disorder. Binge eating disorder includes eating a large amount of food
in a very short amount of time. Here are some of the things that we know about binge eating disorder. Many times people with this disorder will hoard their food.
They will have a ritual of which foods they get at which restaurants. They will then gather those foods and sometimes they will keep a large supply
of those foods in their house. They usually will binge on these foods. And sometimes we're talking about 2,000,
3,000 calories in just one sitting. And it usually happens at night. There's a trance like state that people enter when they
have binge eating disorder. And when they're doing that, they feel numb. It doesn't satisfy any sort of physical hunger
and they feel powerless to stop. If you feel that you are binge eating, here's something that has been shown to be
clinically effective to work. Do not penalize yourself after a binge. A lot of people with binge eating disorder,
after they binge, they will punish themselves by skipping a meal, skipping two meals, skipping three meals, which makes them feel really guilty,
but then it actually increases the likelihood of a binge. Binge eaters should also never say never.
So don't say, I will never eat that candy bar because that has been shown to actually increase the likelihood of a binge.
What you should do is make sure that no food are off limits. But if something as a candy bar or ice cream,
you should enjoy that in its proper place and that is once in a while and eat five to six times a day.
For binge eaters, this is very important. That way you keep the physical hunger at bay so that it never sneaks up on you causing a binge.
