There are many different types of heart disease. And some like congenital heart defects can't be prevented. But most cases of heart disease can.
Losing just 5% to 10% of your body weight can reduce your risk for heart disease, lower your blood pressure, and decrease your risk
for diabetes. Adding exercise to your daily routine, even just 30 minutes of walking per day, can also improve the odds of developing these conditions.

Stress reduction is also important because stress can not only cause more inflammation in the body, it can also lead to high blood pressure, which
itself can cause heart disease. Changing your eating habits away from salty, sugary, and fatty processed foods towards more natural foods like fruits,
vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and fish can both help you lose weight and reduce your blood pressure
and cholesterol. And reducing your alcohol intake to one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men will also
help improve heart health. For certain people, taking cholesterol and blood pressure medications may also help prevent heart disease.
It's important to talk to your doctor about your risk factors and what lifestyle modifications can help you prevent heart disease.
