Appearex is no longer available in the United States.
Appearex is used to treat weak, brittle, splitting or soft nails, according to the manufacturer's claims. Appearex contains high doses of biotin, a B vitamin that is present in tiny amounts in every living cell and is essential for normal liver and nerve function, healthy skin, hair and nails and for helping the body metabolize food into energy. Biotin is also found in many foods, including nuts, legumes and bananas. Talk to your doctor before taking Appearex or any dietary supplement.

No drugs are known to interact with Meribin, a supplement that contains 5 milligrams (mg) of biotin, a B vitamin found naturally in the body and in some foods. However, some medications -- including certain antibiotics and anticonvulsant drugs -- may reduce your biotin level. That could raise your risk for biotin deficiency and increase the likelihood that you would need a biotin supplement such as Meribin. Consult your doctor for more information about your personal biotin needs.

Allergies to biotin supplements such as Meribin are rare, but they may cause symptoms such as hives and upset stomach. Stop taking Meribin and contact your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

Biotin, also known as vitamin H or vitamin B7, is found in every cell in the body and is important for metabolizing food, the normal functioning of the liver and nerves and healthy hair, skin and nails. Talk to your doctor before taking Meribin or any dietary supplement.

Before your child uses Meribin, check with your child's doctor to make sure the supplement is safe and recommended.

Meribin is a dietary supplement that contains 5 milligrams (mg) of biotin, a B vitamin present naturally in the body and in some foods. The National Academy of Sciences has determined that an adequate daily intake of biotin for children can range from 5 micrograms (mcg) for newborns to 25 mcg for children ages 14 to 18. Most children can meet their biotin needs by eating foods that contain the nutrient (biotin-rich foods include eggs, nuts and nut butters, soybeans and other legumes, bananas, and whole-grain products). If the doctor suspects your child has a biotin deficiency, he or she may prescribe a supplement. Do not give your child Meribin -- or any other dietary supplement -- without first consulting a doctor.

Side effects of Meribin and other biotin supplements are very rare. There have been occasional reports of people experiencing hives or gastrointestinal upset after taking biotin supplements. There has also been one case reported of a woman who experienced a life-threatening lung condition called eosinophilic pleuropericarditis after consuming biotin along with pantothenic acid, another B vitamin. More study is needed to understand this reaction.

As with all dietary supplements, talk to your doctor before taking Meribin.

Meribin is a supplement tablet that contains 5 milligrams (mg) of biotin, a B vitamin found in all living cells and some foods.

Biotin is important for the functioning of your nerves, normal metabolism, and many other body processes. The National Academy of Sciences has determined that an adequate daily intake of biotin for adults is 30 micrograms (mcg). Most people can meet their daily biotin needs by consuming foods that contain biotin. Among others, these foods include nuts and nut butters, soybeans and other legumes, whole grains, bananas, and cooked eggs. However, some conditions (such as Crohn's disease) and medications (such as antibiotics or anticonvulsant drugs) may raise your risk for biotin deficiency, increasing the likelihood that you would need a biotin supplement such as Meribin.

Talk to your doctor about whether you need to take Meribin or any other dietary supplement.

Before using Meribin -- or any other dietary supplement -- seniors should consult their doctors to be sure that it is safe and appropriate for them and won't interact with any medications they are taking. Meribin supplements contain 5 milligrams (mg) of biotin, a B vitamin that is present in every living cell and some foods. Biotin-rich foods include bananas, eggs, nuts, soybeans and other legumes, whole-grain foods and dairy products.

The National Academy of Sciences has determined that 30 micrograms (mcg) of biotin is an adequate daily intake for adults; most adults will get this much if they eat a well-balanced diet. However, biotin supplements may be recommended for adults who are deficient in biotin.

Some research has suggested that biotin may help improve symptoms in people who have diabetic peripheral neuropathy (tingling, numbness and pain in the arms, hands, legs or feet). Preliminary research also suggests that a combination of biotin and chromium may help people with diabetes control their blood sugar. However, more research is needed to confirm these benefits.

Ask your doctor what you should do if you miss a dose of Meribin. Do not take a double dose of Meribin to make up for a missed pill without first talking to your doctor.

Meribin contains 5 milligrams of biotin, a B vitamin needed for the proper functioning of the nervous system, normal metabolism, and other body processes. Most people can get enough biotin by eating biotin-rich foods, including cooked eggs, whole grains, soybeans and other legumes, bananas, nuts and nut butters. However, certain medical conditions (such as Crohn's disease) or medications (such as antibiotics or anticonvulsant drugs) can raise your risk for biotin deficiency and increase the likelihood that you'll need a biotin supplement such as Meribin.

Meribin is the brand name for biotin supplements that come in 5-milligram capsules. Biotin is a B vitamin that is found naturally in every cell in the body and also in many foods, including eggs, bananas, whole grains, nuts, soybeans and other legumes.

The supplements provide a considerably higher dose of biotin than the 30 micrograms that is the adequate daily intake for adults established by the National Academy of Sciences. Talk to your doctor before taking Meribin or any dietary supplement.
