The newer version of DTP (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine absorbed USP) known as DTaP can safely be given with other vaccines. You should let your doctor know, however, if your child has recently used or is taking any of these medications that may weaken the immune system, including steroids or cancer treatments. If your child has ever had a seizure following a vaccine, you should give them an aspirin-free medication to lower any fever or reduce any pain they have following the vaccination. Aspirin can increase the risk of some side effects.
