What are healing touch therapies that are used for relaxation?

Bodywork is the umbrella term that describes the hands-on technique of massage, touch, and movement used to align the spine, muscles, and joints to promote the flow of energy. This alternative therapy promotes relaxation, especially with the musculoskeletal system, enhances the circulation of blood and lymph, and relieves muscle tension.

Bodywork includes more than 150 varieties of body manipulation therapies used for relaxation and pain relief.  Of these, massage therapy, the scientific manipulation of the body’s soft tissues to normalize those tissues, is perhaps the most popular and with reason. A massage can make you feel incredibly relaxed, boost pain-relieving endorphins, and distract you from any chronic pain or negative feelings. With massage, the therapist applies manual techniques to the muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments with the goal of healing the body.  Some of the methods used include rubbing, kneading, tapping, manipulating, holding, friction pressure, taping, and vibrating.
