What should I know before my child uses Zoloft?

Before your child uses Zoloft, you should know that children and young adults (age 24 and younger) may be at increased risk of suicidal thinking and behavior when they take this drug. Talk with your child's doctor about the potential risks and benefits of this antidepressant. If your child does take Zoloft, he should be carefully monitored for any worsening symptoms or suicidal thinking, especially at the start of treatment and whenever his dose is changed.
