Who is most at risk for scoliosis?

Children who are still growing are most at risk for scoliosis. If there is a curve in the child's spine, it can worsen as the child grows. Though girls and boys suffer from scoliosis at a similar rate, girls are far more likely to develop a more severe curve that needs to be treated through surgery or a brace.
